About Kinet Bet
Creating a Culture of Wellness Through Connection, Expression, and Heritage.
Our Origin Story
Kinet Bet began as a personal journey for Bethlehem Bekele Belatchew, exploring the multiple identities of being Ethiopian-American. She turned to Ethiopian cultural dance as a way to celebrate her heritage and connect with her roots. What began as self-exploration grew into teaching children in New York City and choreographing performances for Ethiopian Cultural Day in Harlem.
Through life changes, dance became a powerful tool for self-discovery and emotional healing, releasing emotions that had been stuck in the body. This foundation of movement, mindfulness, and wellness became the core of Kinet Bet’s approach.
Dance also became a bridge between cultures, culminating in a performance on The Tonight Show, where Ethiopian tradition met global audiences in a celebration of creativity and connection. Bethlehem shared her journey through her book, Reflections of Healing, and is launching a podcast exploring wellness, culture, and creative expression.
